Use those first 50 levels to really understand how matches create chain reactions. This is crucial because later on, you'll need to spot potential combos BEFORE you make a move. This early practice pays off big time.
The Art of Chain Reactions
Here's the thing that separates good players from great ones in Jewels Blitz 5—chain reactions. When you match gems and new ones fall, sometimes those new gems create additional matches. These cascades are where you rack up massive points.
- Look Before You Leap: Before every move, scan the entire board. Where could a cascade start? Which matches would trigger more matches?
- Bottom-Up Thinking: Try to create matches near the bottom of the grid. Gems falling from height have a better chance of triggering chain reactions.
- Special Gem Combos: Match 4 gems to create line bombs. Match 5 for color bombs. These aren't just flashy—they're point multipliers.
Limited Moves? No Problem
Some levels give you a fixed number of moves instead of a timer. This is where strategy really matters. Here's my approach:
First, complete the level objective (usually clearing certain gems). Then, whatever moves you have left, use them to create bombs. Those leftover bombs scatter across the board and explode, triggering massive cascades that push your score through the roof. That's how you get three stars consistently.
Daily Missions and Weekly Challenges
Don't sleep on these. They give you bonus objectives beyond the main level progression. The rewards—extra boosters, gold, power-ups—can make later difficult levels much more manageable. Check in daily if you can.
Obstacle Strategy
Later levels throw jungle obstacles and magical seals at you. When these appear, prioritize clearing them. They're usually placed in spots that block potential cascades. Get them out of the way early, and the rest of the board opens up.
